The Dallas Cowboys cut kicker Martin Gramatica

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

The Dallas Cowboys have cut Martin Gramatica off the Injured Reserve list.  Rookie Nick Folk has been impressive so far this season so the Cowboys felt comfortable with this move.  Folk has hit 6 of 7 field goals so far as his leg looks strong and accurate.

The Dallas Cowboys sign NT Tank Johnson

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

The Dallas Cowboys have signed free agent NT Tank Johnson to a 2-year contract.  The Cowboys needed some help in the D-Line after losing starting NT Jason Ferguson for the season due to injury.  Johnson won’t be elgible to return to the NFL for six more weeks while he serves an NFL suspension for off field conduct.  He needs to behave and get in shape because the Cowboys need his help so they can make a deep run in the playoffs this season.  Johnson played in 14 games last season for the Bears and he made 26 tackles, had 3.5 sacks, defensed 1 pass and forced a fumble.  Johnson has now played in 46 games in his 3-year NFL career and he has made 63 tackles, 9 sacks, has defensed 4 passes and forced 1 fumble.  This was a god gamble by the Cowboys as they need help with their run defense.

Timetable set for Terry Glenn’s return to the Dallas Cowboys

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

Terry Glenn had surgery on his knee last Thursday and he will miss the next 4-6 weeks.  That is good news to the Cowboys who feared that he might miss the rest of the season due to his bad knee.  Patrick Crayton (3 rec, 51 yards) and Sam Hurd (3 rec, 69 yards, TD) will continue to have an important role in the offense until Glenn returns from injury.

The Dallas Cowboys lose WR Terry Glenn indefinately

Monday, September 10th, 2007

Terry Glenn has had a setback in his recovery from knee surgery he had after last season.  He will be out indefinately and their have been whispers that he might miss the rest of the season.  Patrick Crayton stepped into Glenn’s starting role last night and he caught 3 passes for 51 yards (17.0 avg).  Sam Hurd took over Crayton’s old #3 WR spot and he caught 1 pass….a 51 yard TD!  The Cowboys appear to be in good shape at receiver until Glenn is ready to return.

The Dallas Cowboys place Martin Gramatica on IR

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

The Cowboys have placed kicker Martin Gramatica on the Injured Reserve List ending his season.  Gramatica made 2 of 3 field goals before he injured himself.  Rookie Nick Folk will be the starting kicker on the Cowboys this season.  He has made all 3 of his field goals this pre-season including one of 50+ yards.

The Dallas Cowboys sign QB Rich Bartel to the practice squad

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

The Dallas Cowboys thought they could sneak Matt Moore onto their practice squad but the Panthers ruined the plan by claiming him on waivers.  So, the Cowboys signed Rich Bartel to the practice squad to serve as the #3 QB on the Cowboys this season.  Bartel completed 11 of 13 passes (84.6%) for 81 yards and 1 interception (60.6 QB Rating) in the pre-season.  The Cowboys really hope they don’t have to use him.

The Dallas Cowboys claim CB Evan Oglesby and OLB Justin Rogers off of waivers

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

The Cowboys have claimed CB Evan Oglesby off of waivers from the Baltimore Ravens.  Oglesby had a good pre-season for the Ravens as he had 10 tackles for them.  He has played two seasons in the NFL covering 19 games and he has made 17 tackles and defensed 2 passes.  OLB Justin Rogers was claimed off waivers from the New England Patriots.  Rogers had a solid pre-season for the Patriots with 11 tackles, 2 sacks and a fumble recovery.  He played his college ball at SMU so he will probably get to sleep in his own bed in Dallas.

The Dallas Cowboys release Aaron Glenn

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

The Cowboys have released veteran cornerback Aaron Glenn.  Glenn played well this pre-season for the Cowboys as he had 8 tackles.  This was a surprising move as Terrence Newman is banged up and Glenn could have stepped in for him until he was ready to return.

The Dallas Cowboys release OG Marco Rivera

Friday, June 8th, 2007

The Cowboys have released Marco Rivera.  He played in all 16 games for the Cowboys last season despite playing with a bad back and he did a good job for them.  The Cowboys wanted to go younger at the position and save a little bit of cap space so the move makes some sense.

The Dallas Cowboys release QB Brock Berlin

Friday, May 11th, 2007

After getting a closer look at Brock Berlin in mini-camp this week, the Cowboys have released him.  The Cowboys felt that last year’s practice squad QB (Matt Baker) and undrafted free agent (Matt Moore) had more to offer them than Berlin did.
